More Projects
During my four years at the University of Southern California, I’ve worked on several brand development projects for clubs, organizations, and student artists. My branding works includes logo design, color palettes, original artwork and illustration, marketing collateral, social media campaigns, infographics, merchandise, and promotional materials.
+ ACCEPTED
I served as the VP of Public Relations (January 2020 - May 2021) for AcceptED, a new student organization that helps underserved high schoolers apply to college. I created a quick logo, and then later conducted a redesign that could adapt to future schools’ brands as more AcceptED chapters open up across the nation. I ran social media, pioneered our recruitment process (we selected 30 USC student volunteers and 60 high schoolers), created a website, designed slide decks for internal and external meetings, and created flyers to send to potential partners.
For our initial recruitment cycle, I designed Instagram posts relatable to USC students about the horrors of the college application process. Using the classic meme format, students could learn about AcceptED’s mission in an engaging way. Designed on Adobe Illustrator and Figma.
Below, the new Instagram feed incorporates elements of the logo into each post. The “ED” and the bulb circle act as motifs throughout our account. These posts explain the different elements of our in-depth curriculum and feature success stories of USC students and high schoolers who successfully got “acceptED” into the nation’s top colleges. Designed in Adobe Illustrator and Figma.
An important aspect of the new logo was to make sure it could adapt to other university’s brands. When AcceptED chapters start sweeping the nation, our branding guide will grow as well. See some of the potential applications of the brand below.
+ HOW TO BE FUNNY
This is a 30-second video I made for an “explainer” project in my Multimedia class. The video was inspired by the stand-up comedy class I was taking at the time. I used Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro.
+ USC STAR WARS CLUB
I am the proud co-founder and co-president of USC Star Wars Club. My fellow founder and I were shocked to learn there wasn’t a Star Wars club at the school where George Lucas – the creator of the galaxy far, far away – attended. Literally overnight, we launched the club, secured faculty sponsorship, and gained 150 members using a rouge table at the annual club fair held the next day. We’ve since hosted screenings of the original and prequel trilogy episodes in the largest theaters on campus with world-renowned guest speakers who worked on the films themselves. I’ve learned that cold-emailing, respectful persistence, and optimism go a long way. Below are examples of the visual brand assets I designed to publicize the organization. I used Adobe Illustrator and Figma.
Below are posts publicizing the speakers for our very first screening in USC’s Eileen Norris Cinema Theater for Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. We somehow convinced Richard Edlund (4-time Academy Award-winning visual effects artist, who won his first Oscar for A New Hope) and David Weitzner (VP of Advertising at 20th Century Fox in 1977, meaning he marketed Star Wars for the first time ever) to speak after the show. With active marketing, we packed the 350-person seat theater and give these legendary speakers the audience they deserve.
Below are the playbills I designed for our guests in the USC Norris Cinema Theater for A New Hope, and in the USC Zemeckis IMAX Theater for our screening of Rogue One with screenwriter Gary Whitta.
Below are Instagram posts advertising our USC Star Wars Club merchandise, with proceeds supporting our future club meetings and screenings.
My co-president and I host Star Wars Club meetings every Wednesday. Below are graphics we send to our mailing list and post on Instagram and Discord. Check out our Instagram feed at @uscstarwars.
+ ILLUSTRATION
I drew the following cartoons and characters using Photoshop and Procreate.
+ ALBUM COVERS
Here is an assortment of album covers I made for various artists I’ve met at USC and the Bay Area, where I grew up. Click each cover to stream it on Spotify. To create them, I used Procreate and Adobe Photoshop.
